H. WALKER of LANCASTER – Circa 1831
A beautifully restored early 19th-century longcase clock dating to the William IV period, housed in a rich mahogany case with a deep, warm patina.
The 8-day painted dial is in excellent condition, featuring a pleasing combination of Roman and Arabic numerals, a working seconds dial, and a date aperture. Decorative floral detailing adorns the corners, while the arched top is enhanced by an elegant central fan motif.
The movement is clean and well maintained, keeping good time and striking the hour clearly on a bell.
The mahogany case is particularly attractive, with a break-arch hood crowned by a central wooden finial and supported by turned wooden pillars. The trunk displays fluted corners and an arched door fitted with its original working lock and key.
A fine and honest example of a William IV longcase clock by a Lancaster maker, offering both presence and period charm.
