This is an 8-day brass-faced clock by the famous Nottingham company.
It has a silvered chapter ring and seconds dial, Roman numerals, and a matted brass centre.
The hood has a break-arch top with a brass pediment,and wooden pillars with polished brass cappings. It has fine stringing detail.


The trunk is in good condition and it too has attractive stringing. The door and base have marquetry designs.
Both hood and trunk are highly polished.


G&F Cope were clockmakers from 1845-1899 before the business was taken over by the next generations until 1984.The business was based in Holden St. In Nottingham.
They made most of the public clocks in the city as well as chronometers for the Admiralty. The Nottingham Council House clock had the loudest bell in the UK - a trait reflected in this clock’s bell!


Amongst the parish church clocks they built are St Peter’s Nottingham, St Mary’s Nottingham, St Wilfreds Kirby-in-Ashfield, St Mary’s Ilkeston, and St Mary’s Eastwood.
